The climax of London theatre's awards season, the Olivier Awards ceremony celebrates a fantastic year of entertainment in the theatre capital of the world. The 2013 ceremony will be held at the Royal Opera House, where stars of stage and screen, along with distinguished guests from the arts and culture scene, will come together in an evening of award-giving and incredible, specially-created entertainment.


While the show goes on in the Royal Opera House, the public are invited to a very special event taking over the Covent Garden piazza, where there will be music, entertainment and a live stream of events inside.

The Olivier Awards 2013 with MasterCard promises to be an incredible evening of celebration, award-giving and unbelievable live performances.

The Olivier Awards 2013 with MasterCard will celebrate the fantastic achievement of the best 
theater makers in the world with its fabulous ceremony at the Royal Opera House on 28 April hosted by previous award winner Sheridan Smith  Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, and attended by West End stars, powerhouse producers, screen and music idols and a host of London's most illustrious movers and shakers.

US star Matthew Morrison – Glee’s Mr Schuester – and Broadway sensation Idina Menzel will both be giving very special performances at the event, as will recording star Petula Clark who, when not dominating pop charts, has played the lead role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard more than any other actress in London, Ireland and the USA.

Nominees performing include Will Young alongside the webcast of Cabaret, The Bodyguard’s Heather Headley and the casts of A Chorus Line and Top Hat, while former Busted star James Bourne will give an exclusive performance of one of the songs from his nominated show, Loserville.

Some of the stellar presenters on the night have also been announced, with Kim Cattrall, Lee Evans, Romola Garai, Lily James, Myleene Klass, Damian Lewis, Tim Minchin, Arlene Phillips, Daniel Radcliffe and David Suchet all due to hand out the coveted statuettes.

In 2013, the BBC Radio 2 Stage will be hosted by broadcast personality Claudia Winkleman and musical theatre star Michael Xavier.performances from shows including Billy Elliot The Musical, Matilda The Musical, The Phantom Of The Opera, Wicked, Burn The Floor, Potted Potter and Some Like It Hip Hop will entertain the crowds who will also be able to watch a live stream of the ceremony on big screens.

The Olivier Awards return to mainstream television screens in 2013, as ITV will broadcast a fantastic highlights show featuring the very best moments of the evening soon after the ceremony has come to a close at the Royal Opera House. If you’re not in Covent Garden Piazza it will be the best way to soak up the glamour and see the performances, which promise to be phenomenal, for yourself.
